Many people feel uncomfortable making a claim straight after the event and it is only when they have had time to consider the impact which their injuries have had on their day to day life that they want to look in to possible compensation for their suffering.  This can be particularly true when the injury is sustained at work and people worry about the consequences of pursuing a claim against their employer.  One such case came to us quite recently.

Mr Holmes was involved in an accident at work when he was in his early 60s. He was working for a company as a joiner and was involved in fitting new windows at a local school.  They were working inside on a wooden floor covered with a dust sheet and Mr Holmes was cutting pieces of wood for the window frames using a circular saw. As he was doing so, he slipped on the dust sheet and his left hand caught the circular saw which caused him to sustain permanent and serious damage to his hand.

We were only instructed 6 months before the 3 year limitation period was due to expire.  Although the Defendant's rigorously defended their position raising issues of contributory negligence, we successfully won the case with the Claimant receiving £42,500 in compensation.
