Howard is an equity partner and heads up the firm's criminal defence department in Chester. He graduated with a degree in 1989 from North Staffordshire Polytechnic (now Staffordshire University), before going on to complete his Law Society Finals at the College of Law York in 1990. He joined Russell & Russell on a training contract in 1990 and was admitted as a Solicitor in 1992.

Howard is an accredited police station representative and Duty Solicitor, representing suspects at the police station. He is also a Higher Court Advocate, enabling him to defend clients in both the Magistrates' and Crown Court.

In terms of other areas of criminal litigation, Howard represents clients charged with motoring and road traffic offences, private prosecutions from the DWP, RSPCA, LEA and the British Horse Racing Board. He also acts on behalf of those facing prosecution for more serious offences, including drug trafficking, murder, GBH, ABH, rape and sexual offences.

Outside of work he enjoys canoeing ,cricket and watching his own children play football and rugby. Originating from Stockport, he's a season card holder at Manchester City FC.
