Injury Prevention Week

It is injury prevention week and this year APIL are focusing on Pedestrian safety after research found worrying gaps in road safety knowledge among consumers. Expanded from one day to a full week for the first time this year, there will be a particular focus on road safety for children, who will be preparing to go back to school in August and September.

“The number of pedestrian fatalities has not improved over the last ten years which is why we’re taking this very seriously,” said Sam Elsby, president of APIL, which hosts Injury Prevention Week (17-21 August).

“We started Injury Prevention Day because we found that the Government always focusses on the wrong thing when it looks at personal injury and legal reform,” he went on. “The arguments are never about preventing needless harm in the first place. Let’s be honest, the Government’s work is often about restricting rights to redress after the harm has been done,” said Sam.

As part of the campaign, APIL will be launching a series of important safety messages to pedestrians across social media throughout the week via some awareness stories in the press.

The personal injury team at Russell & Russell Solicitors are proud to be participating members of the campaign launched by APIL and will continue to support the initiative.
